West Papua: An Irrepressible Struggle for Freedom

Australia in Solidarity with West PapuaThis year, the Commission’s Executive Officer, Peter Arndt, joined a peace pilgrimage to West Papua. There he learned of the brutal repression that the people of West Papua faced and experienced the heavy hand of the security state first hand. He also travelled to the Solomon Islands in June to help the United Liberation Movement for West Papua’s bid for membership of the Melanesian Spearhead Group. His report contains valuable insights on the nature of Christian solidarity.
